Alice L. Wade, age 94, of Elwood, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Tri County 
Hospital in Lexington. 

Viewing and visitation was Friday, March 5 at Elwood Funeral Home, Elwood. 
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elwood 
Christian Church, in Elwood with Pastor Linda Newman officiating.

Interment will be at Elwood Cemetery, Elwood.

She was born Jan. 23, 1916, to George and Mary Ellen (Kleffman) Fong, at the 
family farm which was in the Turkey Creek area south of Elwood.

She attended the Robbins country school thru the eighth grade, and then 
graduated from Elwood High School. In 1934, she married Lowell Wade, of 
Elwood. To union were born three children; Robert Royce (Bob), Marilyn Kay, 
and Lowell Dennis (Denny). She had seven grandchildren, three step-
grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, 
completing five generations of Alice’s family.

Alice and Lowell lived their entire lives in the Elwood area, where they 
farmed and raised Hereford cattle. She was an active farm wife, helping Lowell 
all along the way. She was active in the Elwood Christian Church, and enjoyed 
many years of fellowship at the Elwood Senior Center, being there when it was 
first opened. She and Lowell loved to travel, and were avid Nebraska Football 
fans, attending many bowl games in their retirement years.

She was a 4-H leader, and belonged to the neighborhood HOA Club. She lived the 
last five years at the Elwood Assisted Living, enjoying the company of all who 
lived there. She was a fun-loving person who enjoyed playing cards and just 
being with people. Her laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Bob Wade of Johnson Lake; daughter, Marilyn 
(Myron) Dawson of Elwood; grandchildren, Mike (Gloria) Dawson of Smithfield, 
Bill (Kim) Dawson of Edison, Linda (Tom) Leising of Arapahoe, Sonia (Randy) 
Howard of Lexington, Greg Wade of Elm Creek, Todd Wade of Lincoln, Shari 
(Rick) Balhorst of Grand Island, Tim (Allison) Wamsley of Salt Lake City, 
Utah, Scott (Debra) Wamsley of Alabama; great-grandchildren, Charise and Kyle 
Dawson, Kayla, Angela, and Erika Dawson, Scott, Paige, and Stephanie Leising, 
Monte, Amy, Tasha, and Sam Brummet and Rachael Howard; great-great-
granddaughter, Brenna Brummet and several step-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Lowell; son Lowell Dennis 
Wade; grandson Lowell Chad Wade; daughter-in-law Barb Wade; sisters Gurnie 
Frazell, Inez (Peggy) Lervig, Mabelle McGraw, Eunice McGraw and brother Wesley 
Fong.
