Fern Elizabeth Betty Wages, age 86, of Elwood, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at 
Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. 

There will be no viewing or visitation. 

Memorial services were Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist 
Church, in Elwood, with Pastor Connie Karr, officiating. 

Inurnment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. 

She is survived by daughters, Mynette (Lannie) Roblee of Curtis, Sandy 
(Donnie) Franzen of Elwood, Barbara (Russell) Story of Carrollton, Texas; step-
daughter, Penny (Daryl) Jarvis of Longmont, Colo.; sister, Maude Darling of 
Cozad; grandchildren, Shelly Wills, Mike Roblee, Stacey Dukes, Mark Roblee, 
Steve Franzen, Scott Franzen, Tim Franzen, Jennifer Story, Brian Charles, 
Paige Story, and Cameron Story; step-grandchildren, Laura, Scott, Steve, and 
Jeff; 24 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Connie Ourada of Overton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Paul David Parkhurst; 
five brothers and two sisters.

She was born on Dec. 23, 1921 at Omaha, to Harry and Della (Reeder) Chapin.
She attended and graduated from Cozad High School in Cozad, in 1939. On July 
31, 1942, she married Thearle A. “Parkie” Parkhurst. To this union three 
daughters were born, Mynette, Sandy, and Barbara, and a son, Paul David. 

Thearle passed away on Feb. 17, 1978. She married Glen Wages on Dec. 1, 1979 
and then he passed away in Sept. of 1986. She returned to Cozad, in 1987, and 
then moved to Elwood, in 1994. She enjoyed her family, and especially her 
grandchildren.
