Earle Wants a Divorce From Her Husband Took Her to a Hovel. Laura C. Earle files in the district court today her petition for divorce from Archibald C. Earle, to whom she was married at Alma, Neb., on May 24, 1889. In her document she recites that Archibald, prior to their marriage, represented to her that he was possessed of a good home and some wealth and by this means induced her to become his life partner. Relying upon this she became his chaste and obedient wife, only to realize that he was poverty-stricken, for she says that immediately after their union he took her to a hovel that he called home, and since then has compelled her to do work that gave her bodily pain. Moreover he is vulgar and abusive and threatened at various times to do her harm, wherefore she asks divorce and the restoration of her maiden name to Laura C. Payne.
