He was born June 12, 1872, at LaSalle, Ill., the son of John and Johanna Hermanns. When about five years old the family moved to Lincoln and about five years later came to Jefferson county, Nebr. In 1904, he married Mary Henneberry of Fairbury and to them were born six children, on daughter dying in infancy. He farmed near Fairbury and resided here until 1936 when he moved to Quincy, California. Surviving are his wife, Mary of Fairbury; five children, John, with whom he made his home at Quincy, Calif., Bernard of Merced, Calif., Clara Leggett of Stockton, Calif., and Ruth Cassine of Reno, Nevada; one sister, Mrs. Fred O. Jones of Fairbury, and two brothers, August of Fairbury and Charles of Grand Junction, Colo., and a half brother of Beatrice. Rosary was recited Monday evening at Traum's Funeral Home and funeral services held Tuesday morning at St. Michael's church in Fairbury with Monsignor O'Brien, officiating.
