His father, who was born in Hancock, Ohio, in 1837, and died at Springview, May 28, 1915, was a farmer and stockman who took an active part in political and civic affairs in his community; he served as county treasurer of Keya Paha County for four years. His mother, whose Scotch and I rish ancestors settled in Kentucky, in the early history of the state, was born in Harrison County, Ohio, May 10, 1842, and died at Springview, November 10, 1930. Mr. Amspoker received his legal education in the college of law of the University of Nebraska. He has been active in the practice of law in northern Nebraska at Springview since his admission to the bar in 1903, and owns several farms in Keya Paha County. A Republican, he served as county treasurer of Keya Paha County for four years, was county attorney for six years, acted as state representative from 1923 to 1925, and was state senator from 1927 to 1931. He is a member of the local Red Cross, is affiliated with the Congregational Church, and holds membership in the Nebraska State Historical Society. Mr. Amspoker has been interested in banking and farm loan activities for a number of years On November 14, 1906, he married Getha McKee at Bonesteel, South Dakota. Mrs. Amspoker was born in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, December 17, 1881. Their two children are: Bernice, born October 23, 1907, who was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1929; and Ruth Frances, born October 31, 1910, who was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1931.
