His father was a native of Virginia, and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he received his degree of Doctor of Medicine. He served in the Mexican War and was later engaged in the practice of medicine at Des Moines, Iowa, and Lansing, Michigan, and Atlanta. He was a founder of the Georgia College of Medicine and Surgery, and was its president for 25 years. He died on December 2, 1902. Dr. Adolphus received his education in the public and high schools of Atlanta, and afterward entered the Georgia College of Medicine and Surgery from which he was graduated in 1899. He continued his studies in Creighton University, and was graduated in 1908 with a degree of Doctor of Medicine. He served as interne with the St. Joseph Hospital, and during 1909 took post graduate work from the University of New York. Dr. Adolphus is a member of the Masons, the Oddfellows, the Elks, the Owls, Moose, Woodmen of the World, Woodmen Circle, The Puritan Union of America, and the Brotherhood of American Yeoman. He has written for numerous medical journals, and is also the author of articles on medical subjects and some poetry. Among his contributions to literature are the following, Fickle Love; No Time for Prejudice; An Unsuccessful Politician; Father-Time; Flowers To the Living; and Air Castles. Residence: Lincoln.
