Charles DeWitt Ammon

Charles DeWitt Ammon was born at Raleigh, Saline County, Illinois, June 6, 1887,
the son of John Franklin and Adele (Douglas) Ammon. His father, who was for many
years a railroad agent, and a merchant, is of German ancestry. His mother, who
was born March 3, 1863, and is still living, is of Scotch descent.

Mr. Ammon was graduated from the high school at Benton, Illinois, May, 1903,
where he was active in debating and oratorical events. He was in a railroad
office for a time; managed a grocery store at Sidell, Illinois, 1904-05; was
engaged in the hardware business, 1907-12; and since 1913 has been a
manufacturer. He is the owner of the Easy Manufacturing Company at Lincoln, at
this time.

He was united in marriage to Emah B. Bruns at Elcampo, Texas, June 23, 1910.
Mrs. Ammon, whose ancestry is German, was born at Elcampo, July 18, 1889. They
have two children: Robert, born June 8, 1918; and William, born November 3, 1923.

Mr. Ammon is a member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club.
He served as county chairman of the Butler County Red Cross in 1918. He is a
member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Young Men’s Christian
Association. He is a Mason. He is affiliated with the Shrine Country Club, and
his sports are golf and hand ball. Residence: Lincoln.
