The Nebraska State Jounal Sat Apr 17, 1869 April 17, 1869
Found this in The Nebraska State Journal while looking
for wedding announcements and could not help but
transcribe this early bit of humor. While it was not
"news" it was abstracted from a newspaper. It appears from
the signing that this must have passed around several
newspapers.

A Crystal Wedding--Marrying a "glass eye"..Syracuse Courier

An Iron Wedding--Marrying a blacksmith..Brandon Republican

  writing paragraphs like the one above... Mobile Tribune.
A Leather Wedding--Marrying an animal like the last writer,
  who can only be managed with a bridal.--Nonpared
A Halt-er Wedding--Marrying an "animile," like the editor of
  the Mobile Tribune.--Plattsmouth Herald.
A Pargoric Wedding--Marrying the writer for the Herald, whose
  editorials, a lisping Miss remarks, 'Hath-a-way of making
  uth thleepy'
