Arnold Leonard E. Arnold, proprietor of the Arnold Drug Company at Sutherland, was born at Stockville, Nebraska, December 3, 1900, son of Henry D. and Rachel M. (Smith) Arnold. His father, who was a carpenter, was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, July 27, 1870. His family came to America from Germany in 1796. His wife, Rachel M., was born at Fort Wayne, Indiana, June 25, 1877, of English ancestry. Mr. Arnold attended the public schools of Stockville, and in May, 1917, was graduated from hisrh school there. During the year 1919, Mr. Arnold attended the University of Wyoming, and on May 23, 1923, received the degree of Ph. G. from Valparaiso University. He is a life member of the National Association of Drug Clerks, having received the highest standing in chemistry, in the pharmacy department. Mr. Arnold assumed various clerkships, including Lynch Pharmacy at Roseland, Nebraska, the Preston Drug Company at Oxford, Nebraska, the Hoopers Pharmacy at Holdrege, Nebraska, the Ogallala Drug Company, Ogallala, Nebraska. Hie was manager for a time of the Sievers Drug Store at Morrill, and is now the owner of his own store at Sutherland. Mr. Arnold is a Republican, has served as a member of the city council for the past three years. He is the author of Who Is To Blame (January, 1932), published in the National Drug Clerk. On March 13, 1025, he was married to Nora C. Miller at Smith Center, Kansas. Mrs. Arnold was horn at Holstein, Nebraska, August 30, 1905, the daughter of Fred Sand and Christina (Temm) Miller. She is of German descent. They have one son, Vancen, born August 17, 1027. Among Mr. Arnold's professional organizations are, the National Association of Drug Clerks, the Nebraska Pharmaceutical Association, and the Platte Valley Pharmaceutical Association. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and has served as its president for two years. He is also a member of the Odd Fellows, and is district deputy grand master. At the present time, he is president of the Platte Valley Pharmaceutical Association. His favorite sports include football, fishing, and hunting, while his hobby is reading. Residence: Sutherland.
