           Was it Indians
   North Platte, Nebraska, Nov. 23.--Ben Case, employee of 
M. C. Keith, was found murdered forty miles up the North
Platte river, this morning. The murderer is unknown. It
is thought the murder was done after the Indian fashion. 
The saddle was cut to pieces.

North Platte, Neb., Nov. 22-- Seventy head of horses
were stolen from Paxton & Co. from the Sheidley ranch
on the North Platte, on Wedensday last, it is supposed
by Indians. Major North from Dismal River, reports a
small band of Spotted Tail Indians down this way 
seeking horses.
   Benjamin Case, an employee of M. C. Keith, was found
murdered 40 miles up the North Platte River this morning.
The murderer is unknown, though the killing was done
after the Indian fashion, and the saddle was cut to
pieces.

Columbus Era (Columbus, NE) Horse-thieves, either white
or red shot and killed a young man by the name of 
Ben Case, the fore part of last week, while he was hunting
horses at Ogallala. He was formerly from Chataqua county, 
New York, and at the time of his death was in the employ
of Barton & Dillon.

Nebraska Advertiser (Brownville, NE) Thur Dec 5, 1878
 -- A yount man named Ben Case, at Alkali, near North
Platte, formerly of Chautauqua county, N. Y., was
recently killed, while hunting horses, by Indians or
horsethieves.
