His remains went east to his friends in Iowa. The Nebraska State Journal Fri Jun 18, 1880 Elmer Crowell, a news agent in the employ of Barkalow Bros., died at North Platte, on Thursday morning, in a mysterious manner. It is supposed from the effects of poison administered by an emigrant on No. 6 some days ago. An inquest was held, but no verdict was arrived at. An investigation is to be made.
