F. N. DICK Dr. F. N. Dick died at his residence in this city this morning at ten minutes before two o'clock. He passed peacefully away in the presence of his family and a few friends. The cause of death was an abnormal grown on the liver which first developed eight years ago, and which it is believed was due to injuries received by a fall on a defective sidewalk. The growth affected the deceased more or less during the past few years, very severely at times. During the past year the trouble had grown much worse, ad about two months ago he went to Omaha and submitted to a thorough examination and the existence of the abnormal growth was for the first tine definitely known. The physicians gave the patient little encouragement and he was brought home and from that time until his death he was confined to the house. The funeral will be held at the Episcopal church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Frederick N. Dick was born in Greensboro, N. C., October 6th, 1844. At the aged of seventeen he entered the Confederate States army, and for meritorious service was advanced to a lieutenantship under command of General Robert E. Lee. At the close of the war he began reading medicine with his brother and later attended the University of Virginia at Charlottsville. He then entered the Washington University at Baltimore from which institution he graduated in February, 1868. In the spring of 1868 he came to North Platte and located and since that time had been engaged in the practice of medicine continuously. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss. A. E. Webb, the ceremony occurring in this city. A wife and five children survive the father. Dr. Dick ever held a high place i the estimation of North Platte people. He was a learned and successful physician, a true and tried friend, and a highly respected citizen. He incurred the enmity of none and enjoyed the good-will of all. The world is better by reason of him having lived. His death has caused much regret and sorrow among the people among whom he lived for so many years, and their heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
