Betty J. Kind, age 77, of North Platte, died Feb. 17, 2009 at Linden Court.

A memorial service is set for Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at Adams & Swanson Chapel 
at 11:00 AM with the Revs Harold Rhea and Frank Fitch officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
    
She is survived by her husband Duane L. Kind of North Platte; daughter Sarah 
B. Kind of Atlanta, Ga.; step-daughters, Kathy Vowers of Grand Island, Barb 
Molonaro of Denver, Colo., and Mary Schwager of North Platte; step-son Duane 
L. Kind Jr. of Omaha; brothers and sisters, Deanna (Larry) Remmers of North 
Platte, Ronald Meyer of North Platte, Robert (Carol) Meyer of Lexington, 
Jerald (Deb) Meyer of Blue Rapids, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-
grandchildren; special friend Gretchen Laier and numerous nieces and nephews, 
cousins and friends.   

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

She was born June 10, 1931 in Deshler, Ohio to William Fredrick and Iva Firman 
Meyer. She grew up and attended school graduating from Lexington High School. 

She went on and attended Kearney State Teachers College for 4 years.

She married Duane L. Kind on April 11, 1959 in Grand Island.

Betty was a school teacher, teaching in various towns around Nebraska. She 
retired from teaching in 1973, after teaching for 23 years. Duane and Betty 
also owned and operated the Bar-X Motel for 27 years in North Platte.
