Duane L. Kind, 79, of North Platte died Sept. 30, 2009 at Great Plains Regional
Medical Center. 

Services will be in North Platte at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 with the Rev.
Dr. Charles Spence officiating at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. Visitation was
Friday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Vowers of Grand Island and Barbara
Molinaro of Denver, Mary Schwager of North Platte, and Sarah B. Kind of Atlanta,
Ga.; a son, Duane Kind Jr. of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was born July 24, 1930 in Scribner, to Fred and Rosa Beerbohm Kind.

On June 25, 1959 he married Betty Meyer in Grand Island. Betty preceded him in
death Feb. 17, 2009.  Duane was a Planning and Scheduling Supervisor for the
Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years before retiring Nov. 29, 1987 and he and
Betty were owners of the Bar X Motel for 21 years.  He was also an auto dealer
for 30 years, which included 21 years of dealership at the Bar X Auto Sales of
North Platte. He was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges.
