Visitation was Friday at Braman Mortuary, 6505 South 144th St, Omaha. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Internment will be in Homer. Richard is survived by his mother, Doris (Farris) Stamps of Lexington; three children, son, Robert (Julie) Stamps of Omaha, daughter, Michelle Stamps of Omaha and another son, Chad Stamps of Pensacola, Fla.; two stepsons, Lonnie Keegan of Omaha and Cory (Kimber) Keegan of Henderson, Nev.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Stamps, Lexington and Mark (Melissa) Stamps of Lincoln and one sister Linda (Charles) Brogan of Lincoln. His grandparents and his father, William, preceded Richard in death. Richard was born July 20, 1948 in North Platte. He was the eldest of four children to be raised in Lexington. Richard graduated with a master’s degree in electronic engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Richard and Elaine Rutz were married in 1968 and two children were born to this union, Robert and Michelle. Richard was married in 1982 to Vicki Hansen Keegan and one child was born to this union, Chad. He warmly welcomed Vicki’s two sons, Lonny and Corey, as his own. Richard retired from a career in the Air Force in 1996 after 24 years of service. Following his retirement he worked for Raytheon, Inc and worked in Iraq for periods of time during the last three years.
