This is just one snip out of several pages of the news.} THE LEADERS OF THE HOSTS Nebraska Department Commander Alonzo H. Church was born in Green county, Illinois, and was raised in Springfield, where he enlisted in August, 1862, as a private in Company G, One Hundred and Fourteenth Volunteer Infantry. He served in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Corps under Sherman and Logan up to time of his capture in June, 1864. He served nine months in Andersonville and Florence prison stockades. At muster-out in July, 1865, he was orderly sergeant of his company. After the war he was engaged in newspaper work on the Illinois State Journal, excepting two years at school. In 1872 he went to Nebraska. He continued the reading of law begun in Springfield, and in 1874 was elected probate judge of Lincoln county, Nebraska, for three successive terms. He was elected judge of the Thirteenth judicial district of Nebraska for seven years, being connected with the Western Nebraskan and North Platte Republican as editor during that time. He has been atively connected with the Grand Army since 1881. He was elected senior vice-department commander in February 1892, and department commander of Nebraska in February 1893. He is past commander of Post No. 69 at North Platte, where he is engaged in the practice of the law. The Nebraska department was organized June 11, 1877. It's staff is now: Commander--Alonzo H.
