His father, a retired farmer and stockman, was born at Rushville, Illinois, December 19, 1872, of Scotch ancestry. His mother, also born at Rushville, is a member of the Woman’s Club. She is of German descent. Mr. Aten attended the public schools of Nodaway County, Missouri, and in 1920 was graduated from the Holdrege High School. He received the LL. B. degree at the University of Nebraska, 1924, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. He has been associated with Clarence A. Davis, former attorney-general of Nebraska, in the practice of law at Holdrege, since July 1, 1924. He holds membership in the Chamber of Commerce, the Nebraska State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Kiwanis Club, and the Lincoln University Club. He is a member of DeMolay, and is Past Master of the Masons. His sports include golfing and tennis. On June 29, 1927, he was married to Irma Yolanda Hulquist, at Holdrege. Mrs. Aten, who was formerly a teacher, was born in Chicago, October 2, 1903. Mr. Aten was nominated for county attorney of Phelps County, Nebraska in 1920. Residence: Holdrege.
