Marvin W. Carlson, 81, of rural Overton, died Friday, May  9, 2008, at the 
Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
 
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Adullam Lutheran 
Church, north of Bertrand, with the Rev. Gary Panko officiating.  Interment 
will be at Adullam Cemetery in Phelps County, with military honors. 

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; four children, Kirk (Kim) Carlson of 
Ralston; Kathy (Jim) Griess of Fremont; Peg (Sid) Moeller of Hooper; and Jeff 
(Bertina) Carlson of Overton; nine grandchildren, Micheal, Brian, Shawn, and 
Joseph Carlson; Robb and Brett Moeller; and Alexandra, Ashley, and Dalton 
Carlson; and four great-grandchildren. 

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and a sister-in-
law, Alton Carlson and his wife, Florence and Doyle Carlson.

Marvin was born Oct. 8, 1926 on the family farm north of Bertrand in Phelps 
County, the second of three sons born to Carl William and Jennie (Nordenstam) 
Carlson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Adullam Lutheran Church.  Marvin 
received his primary education from Ash Grove School in Phelps County and then 
graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1944.
