A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s in the Valley Episcopal Church in Lexington with the Rev. Kay Knudson officiating. The family has chosen cremation and there will be no visitation. Inurnment will be held prior to the Mass at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. He was born Nov. 21, 1959, at Scottsbluff to Franklin Peter and Audra Jean (Elliott) Sands. Peter was living at New Brown residential house with Mosaic in Holdrege at the time of his death.  He so enjoyed his four roommates.  Peter was a member of St. Peter’s in the Valley Episcopal Church in Lexington as well as St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Holdrege.  He loved his church and enjoyed reading scripture and singing hymns.   He also was an avid swimmer, enjoying the waterslides and diving.  He liked to snow ski, walk, fireworks on the Fourth of July and soda pop.  Survivors include his mother, Jean Sands of Lexington; four brothers, James R. “Randy” Sands of Punta Gorda, Fla., Jeff (Pam) Sands of Golden, Colo., Andy (Donna) Sands of Greeley, Colo., Scott Sands of Houston, Texas; one sister, Sue Ann Sands-Buss and Randy Buss of Kearney; two nephews, Sean Sands of Brookings, S. D., Tyrell Sands of Denver; three nieces, Abby Sands of Denver, Annah Buss of Omaha, Rachel Buss of Kearney and one great-niece, Bergen Sands of Brookings, S.D. Peter was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.
