The Columbus Telegram (Columbus, NE) Thursday
   Yesterday at 2 o'clock the funeral of George. W.
Stevens was held at his late residence two miles west
of town. A large number of friends, mostly old settlers,
were present. Judge H. J. Hudson conducted the services,
making very appropriate remarks and relating some
interesting reminiscences concerning deceased.
  Mr. Stevens was a man, singular in character, to a 
certain extent, and of striking characteristics in
honest and good heartedness. Those who were present
bore testimony to this, and most of them had known
him for many years. Mr. Stevens' wife and daughter,
who are in California, were unable to reach here
in time for the funeral.
