Anderson, a resident of Stromsburg since 1910, has taken an active part in civic and community affairs for many years. He was born at Kiron, Iowa July 15, 1889, the son of Andrew J. and Betty (Pearson) Anderson. His father, a farmer, was born in Sweden December 17, 1837, and died at Stromsburg, February 1, 1918. His mother was born in Sweden, February 27 1852, and died at Stromsburg, April 16, 1931. Mr. Anderson attended rural school in Iowa, and in 1904 was a student at the Luther Academy at Wahoo, Nebraska. He clerked in the shoe department of a retail store from 1906 to 1910, when he became owner of a shoe store. From 1919 to 1923 he was manager of the insurance and collection department in a law office, and from 1923 to 1929 he was bookkeeper and assistant cashier in a bank. He is now conducting a general insurance agency. During the World War Mr. Anderson served in a provisional battalion of Guard and Fire Companies at Camp Mills, Long Island, New York, as a private, and later as corporal and sergeant. He is a member of the American Legion and he has served as adjutant of the local post. He has been a member of the city council of Stromsburg, and served as city clerk, 1915-20 and 1923-28. He is a member of the Nebraskana Society is affiliated with the Lutheran Church, and holds membership in the Republican party. He was united in marriage with Audrey A. Peterson at Stromsburg, April 15, 1919; she was born there May 1891. They have two children; Robert L., born January 26, 1921; and Betty Jean, born September 3, 1922. Residence; Stromsburg.
