Published by Centennial Book Committee - 1987 Copyright 1987 by Rock County Centennial Book Committee and Rock County Historical Society Ben Edwards Ammon Biography Ben Edwards Ammon was born August 29, 1890, to John R. and Ida Estella (Sybrant) Ammon. Hewas a life-long resident of Rock County, having grown up in the Pony Lake area. He attended Pny Lake and Hammond Schools. He was married to Estella Rosina Barker, on December 4, 1915. they had five children: Frank, Dale, John Betty and Rosina. I 1942 he moved to Bassett, where he opened theApex Mineral and Feed business, which he operated for 27 years. Ben loved to hunt and had some coyote hounds when he was 12 or 13 years old. He was well known regionally for hunting coyotes and recognized nationally for the raising and training of greyhounds. His hobby, which also became a business, was featured in many national magazines. He shipped dogs to hunters in every state except Hawaii, and to hunters in Canada as well. Ben passed away November 4, 1972 at the age of 82 and Estela passed away May 27, 1973 at almost 79 years of age. (End of File)
