Published by Centennial Book Committee - 1987 Copyright 1987 by Rock County Centennial Book Committee and Rock County Historical Society Harold Gilbert Ammon Harold Gilbert Ammon was born to John R. and Estella (Sybrant) Ammon on February 15, 1892. He lived his entre life in Rock County. On September 25, 1915 he was united in marriage to Addie Amanda Welton at Bassett. Addie was the aughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Welton at Whitney, Nebraska. She was born on Ocotber 4, 1894. To this union were born five children: baby - born and died June 18, 1916 Lucille Ida, Marie Myrtle, Harold Edward, and Raymond John. Harry spent his life ranching near the John Ammon homestead. He and Addie later moved to Bassett and Raymond took over the running of their place. Harold E. took over the running of the John and Estella Ammon place. Even though Harry lived in town he would make daily trips back out to the ranches and enjoyed doing all the daily things he had done for so many years. He loved to play cards with anyone that would sit down and play. He was a rugged pitch player and was forever "Shooting the Moon" much to the consternation of his partner!!! Addie loved to crochet and made lots of pretty things. Her priority was her children and grandchildren and always made sure that Christmas' were the highlight of the year. Addie died at the Bassett Hospital in April of 1960. Harry married Emma Mauch on April 4, 1966. They spent alot of time going fishing and playing cards. They enjoyed the many relatives in this area. Harry passed away on Sept. 18, 1985 at the Rock County Hospital. Emma passed away in Stuart, Nebraska in April of 1991. (End of File)
