Published by Centennial Book Committee - 1987 Copyright 1987 by Rock County Centennial Book Committee and Rock County Historical Society Newton Sybrant Biography Newton was born in Pennsylvania and came to Nebraska at the age of three with his parents, David and Lucretia Sybrant. Newt and some of his brothers had a country store. In 1919, he married Nllie Miner, daughter of Benjamin and Emma Jane Miner, and moved to his mother's place, he still helped her when he could. Newt was 13 when he and some of the older brothers and friends were riding horses, going to Pony Lake. Newt's horse stepped in a hole and fell with him. The boys took Newt home where he was unconscious for three or four weeks. He was in bed about three months, and then could not use his one leg. They thought his back was injured, but years later, he found because of another fall that his hip had been broken and the old break had never set properly. His leg was shorter than the other. Newt and his family moved to a small farm in Arkansas in the fall of 1936. In March of 1942 Nellie had a stroke and was paralyzed on one side until her death in Dec. 1942. She was buried in Kingree Chapel Cemetery near Locksburg, Arkansas. Her parents are also buried there. newt and family moved back to Idaho in 1943 to be near Marjorie who was living there. He took a job Cooking for a sheep camp on Black Pine Mountain. He became very sick with Spotted Tick Fever and no one thought he would survive. Four children had been born to Newt and Nellie: Erwin Russell, Marjorie Pauline, Dorothy Irene, and Audrey Carol. Newt went back to Nebraska and worked for some time. When he returned to Idaho in 1944, he brought Hazel Miner, (Nellie's sister) and they were married in Burley, Idaho, on December 2, 1944. Newt died August 12, 1977 in Idaho. (End of File)
