Rock County December 3, 1891 We learn from Mr. Lackaff that he now allows the use of cards in his saloon simply for amusement. We are sorry to note this is what has been a model saloon. We think he has made a mistake in this. It is the amusement and attractiveness of a saloon that makes it dangerous and a prolific source of drunkedness. Mr. Lackaff says his saloon is not paying under the present management. Perhaps not; we are pleased to note that he has given Slocum law a fair trial. We are not certain what construction of the law will be placed on playing cards for amusement, but do not believe it will bear an investigation. (End of File)
