Music was furnished by the chapel and Rev. L. B. Stevenson conducted the service and preached the funeral sermon. Interment was in the Ashland Cemetery. The pallbearers were: J. P. Vosler, Floyd Martin, Julius Olesen, Glenn Campbell, Raymond Campbell and Al Ulstrup. Ernest Alfred GRay, son of James and Hannah Gray was born t Granby, uebec, Canada on Nov. 17, 1873 and departed this life at his home in Ashland on Nov. 6, 1939, aged 65 years, 11 months and 20 days. Mr. Gray came to Nebraska with his parents in December 1878 and had continued to reside in the state. For the past 25 yers he had lived in the Ashland community. On Jan. 29, 1901 he was united in marriage with Hester A. Brown at Craig, Nebr. To this union were born seven children: Four sons, Ernest Grland of Lynwood, Cal., James William of Valentine, Jennings Frederick of Havelock, and three daughters, Mrs. Wallie Wagner of Ashland, Mrs. John Duerr of Willowbrook, Cal., and Mrs. Norman Mathey of Salem, O., all of whom are left to mourn his loss. Other surviving members of Mr. Gray's family are: Three brothers, Arthur of Norfolk, Clarence of Wayne and Fred of Dnville, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. His mother and father, one brother, one grandchild and one nephew preceded him in death. Mr. Gray passed away suddenly on Monday afternoon of a heart attack. His death came as a great shock to his family and friends. He was a loving father and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
