He was born May 19, 1897, at Odell, NE. He grew up there and graduated from High School at Beatrice in 1915. He moved to Wallace, NE, and farmed for two years. He moved to Scottsbluff in 1920 and was employed by Western Public Power for 13 years and was a salesman in various stores until his retirement. He married Oda B. Hinman April 18, 1920, at Gering, NE. Surviving are his wife; daughters: Mrs. John (Stella) Spurgeon; Mrs. Harvey (Shirley) Lacy; Mrs. Carroll (Eleanor) Card; sons: Frank of Scottsbluff; Dayton of Jacksonville, FL; John of Ft. Collins, CO; Richard of Billings, MT. Sisters: Mrs. Ed (Genevieve) Sullivan of Wallace, NE; Mrs. Walter (Agnes) McGrath of Pomona, CA; Mrs. Walter (Nora) Sollars of Riverton, WY. Brothers: John of Grand Island, NE and George of Grant, NE. 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Dugan Funeral Chapel, Rev. James Rowe of the First Baptist Church will officiate with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
