Andreas Theodore Anderson

Andreas Theodore Anderson was born at Gelballe, Skanderup, Denmark, July 19,
1885, and came to Nebraska, January 22, 1904, settling in Gordon where he went
into the blacksmithing business. He is the son of Andreas and Margrethe
Andersen, the former born in Egholt, Denmark, April 9, 1845, and died at
Gelballe, Denmark, September 23, 1917. His mother was born in Gesten, Denmark,
April 23, 1850, and died at Gelballe, Skanderup, Denmark, December 19, 1931.

From the age of five until the age of 14, Mr. Andersen attended school and on
October 1, 1899, was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Skanderup. Mr.
Anderson’s grandfather and father were both blacksmiths in Denmark as were his
two brothers. In 1914 and 1924 he returned to Denmark for visits. He started in
the blacksmithing business for himself at Gordon, Nebraska, on March 25, 1908,
and at the present time is president of the Nebraska Blacksmiths’ Association.
He is a Republican.

On December 25, 1911, he was married to Elsie Violet Zechman at Gordon. She was
born at Easton, Pennsylvania, December 5, 1890. They have three children,
Esther, born March 22, 1913; Carl, born July 17, 1914; and Ruth, born March 6,
1916.

Mr. Anderson is a member of the Gordon Methodist Episcopal Church, is president
of the local welfare board, and is a steward and Sunday school superintendent in
his local church. Residence: Gordon.
