Carl Gideon Amick

Carl Gideon Amick, physician and surgeon, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska,
July 11, 1896, son of John William and Lillie Mae (Hall) Amick. The father, who
is a retired railroad conductor of German origin, was born at Moberly, Missouri,
September 16, 1862. His wife, born at Napoleon, Ohio, May 20, 1868, is of
Scotch-Irish descent.

Educated in the grade schools of Grand Island, Kearney and St. Paul, Carl Gideon
Amick was graduated from high school at Loup City, in 1915. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in 1919, and his
Doctor of Medicine degree in 1921. He is a member of the Silver Lynx and of Phi
Rho Sigma.

Admitted to practice October 1, 1922, Dr. Amick is now owner and physician and
surgeon in charge of the Loup City Hospital and district surgeon for the Union
Pacific Railroad. Pie is medical examiner for the National Red Cross, a member
of the Custer County, Nebraska State and American Medical Associations, and
holds the rank of first lieutenant in the Medical Reserve Corps. He is a Mason,
is fond of hunting and fishing, and enjoys reading.

On November 10, 1923, he was married to Emily Clara Wanek, at Loup City. Mrs.
Amick, who is of Bohemian descent, was born at Milligan, Nebraska, February 21,
1901. There are three children, Janet Louise, born November 20, 1924; Ellen
Marie, born May 28, 1927; and Arthur Franklin, born March 21, 1930. Residence:
Loup City.
