The microfilm reads: Free inhabitants in ______________ in the County of ________________ State (State is crossed out with the word Territory written in) of Nebraska enumerated by me on the 15th day of June 1860 John Y. Clopper Ass't Marshal Post Office Fort Laramie (nearest office). The enumerator made 2 changes when he reached the fort by writing: Free inhabitants in Fort Laramie Reservation in the County of _______________ State (State is crossed out with the word Territory written in) of Nebraska enumerated by me on the 3rd day of July 1860 John Y. Clopper Ass't Marshal Post Office Fort Laramie The Fort Laramie area on the 1860 NE Territorial Census was enumerated by John Y. Clopper who also enumerated the following inhabited places as his total area of enumeration: Boulder City, P. O. Boulder City Altoona City, P. O. Denver City Boulder Creek Settlement, P. O. Denver City The Gold Hill Settlement, P. O. Denver City Miravalle City, P. O. Denver City (J. Y. Clopper is listed as a resident of Miravalle on pg 46 dwl 520 fam 332) Platte River Settlement, P. O. Denver City (Ted and Carol Miller have transcribed these and they are listed below the Fort Laramie transcription on the NE US GenWeb page as present day Colorado areas.) The enumerator wrote at the end of the last settlement, Platte River Settlement, that he enumerated all of the above places as his subdivision in accordance with latitude and longitude figures: " whole number of pages 51 Territory of Nebraska I John Y. Clopper an assistant to the marshal of Nebraska for taking the census of the following subdivision towit; all that portion of Territory keeping North of the 40th parallel of Latitude and west of the meridian of longitude 103 (degrees) take that portion bounded as follows: 40th parallel on south: longitude 103 on west: 42 (degrees) parallel on north: longitude 101 (degrees) 30' on east: do solemnly swear that the foregoing returns were made according to my oath and the instructions to the best of my knowledge and belief. John Y. Clopper Subscribed and sworn to me as associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Nebraska this 20th day of September 1860 Teliager Wahilly Associate Justice of Supreme Court" Therefore all of the above areas are a unit. No county is listed for any of them. Fort Laramie is in present day Wyoming while the others are in present day Colorado.
