REVOLUTIONARY PENSION RECORD JAMES NOLAND Contributed by Mrs. J. B. Noland, Richmond, Kentucky, Genealogist Boonsboro Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, being an abstract furnished by the U. S. Pension Department, Washington, D. C. James Noland, born in Charles Co., Md., 1740. Lived in Loudon Co., Va.; enlisted 1775; served 12 months as private in Capt. Simon Tripplett's Co., Col. Grayson's Va. Regt. Moved to Rowan Co., N. C., and from 1780 to close of war served as a Capt. under Col. Frank Locke. He was in many skirmishes with Tories and British and they offered $500.00 for his head. He also rode express for Gen. Smallwood from Salisbury to Deep River. He was allowed pension (W. 9202), Nov. 19, 1832, then living in Estill Co., Ky., having moved there in 1812. Died, Dec. 26, 1833. Married Dec. 26, 1774, in Loudon Co., Va., Barbara -----, born May 28, 1760, her maiden name not given. She was allowed pension Oct. 1 1838, while living in Estill Co., Ky. In 1844 she was living with her children in LaPorte Co., Ind. Children: Stephen, the oldest, born in Loudon Co., Va., June 6, 1776. Silas, born in Rowan Co., N. C., Oct. 11, 1778. Rasha, a son, b. July 29, 1781. Francis, b. 1785, in Rowan Co., N. C., and was 53 in 1838. John, the 7th child, born June 9, 1792. James, his age not given nor the names of other children.
