He married Deborah Platt, daughter of Stephen and Thamar (Youngs) Platt of Stamford, Connecticut. In 1810 they were living at Windham, New York. SILAS6 SAXTON (Alanson5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Rensselaerville, Albany County, New York, May 11, 1791, and died at Johnson Creek, New York, August 31, 1870. (d) He married at Windham, Greene County, New York, January 28, 1814, (e) Parmelia Clafin, daughter of John and Henrietta (Stimson) Clafin. (f) She was born at Claverack, New York, July 28, 1793, and died at Hartland, New York, September 24, 1876. Silas and Parmelia Saxton are both buried in the Hartland Central Cemetery. Between 1816 and 1818 they removed from Windham, New York, to Mendon, Monroe County, New York, and between 1832 and 1839 to Newstead, Erie County, New York, where they were members of the Presbyterian Church. In 1864 they were living at Middleport (e) in the same county. He married probably, Betsy -----, and lived at New Haven, Vermont, where he was postmaster for several years. It is probable that he died in Vermont and his wife in Michigan. JEHIEL6 SAXTON (Ebenezer5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Whitehall, Washington County, New York, August 7, 1780.(h) He married, first, Sally Fuller; secondly, in 1808, Polly Stewart, daughter of Sergeant Samuel and Elizabeth (Abbott) Stewart, who is said to have been the first white child born at Bristol, Vermont.(i) During the War of 1812 Jehiel Saxton raised an independent company of militia of which he was made captain. He took part in the Battle of Plattsburg. In the fall of 1818 he removed with his family from Bristol, Vermont, to Newburgh, Cayuga County, Ohio, the overland journey requiring six weeks. Before winter set in he had put up a log house to shelter his wife and children. They had brought provisions with them from Vermont but these were exhausted before the first crop was raised and for some time the family was compelled to subsist chiefly on wild ----------------------------------------------------------------- (g) Tucker Family Bible. EBENEZER6 SAXTON (Ebenezer5 James4-3-2 George1) was born at Monkton, Vermont, June 2, 1797. In 1819 he married Minerva Munson, born August 29, 1798, daughter of Captain Noble and Betsey (Furman) Munson of Bristol, Vermont. In 1829 they removed from Bristol to East Flamboro, Canada, and in the fall of 1837 to Merrillville, Lake County, Indiana. He died at Merrillville, November 29, 1877, and she died there March 18, 1878. Children of Ebenezer6 and Minerva (Munson) Saxton: i. Henry, b. JOHN 6 SAXTON (William5 James4-3-2 George1) was born January 27, 1780, at Cambridge (now in Washington County), New York.(j) He married, about December 1796, Esther Niles, born August 7, 1779, daughter of Simeon and Anna (Randall) Niles of Galway, New York. In 1805 they removed to Otsego County and settled at Westville, where he was killed in the woods by the falling of the limb of a tree, April 1, 1821. John Saxton served in the War of 1812. He married Orilla ----- , who was born September 4, 1785, and died May 18, 1853. In 1840 he removed from Fredonia, New York, to Wiota, LaFayette County, Wisconsin. Diadama 6 Saxton (Alanson 5 James4-3-2 George1) married, 1803, probably at Windham, New York, Philetus Reynolds, who was born at Stockbridge, Massachusetts, April 25, 1776. They removed from Windham in 1816, and later lived at Dunkirk, New York.(d) Children (surname Reynolds), Calvin, Luther, Annis. P. 32. Agnes6 Saxton (Alanson 5 James4-3-2 George1) was probably the daughter of Alanson Saxton who married Sanford Hunt, and whose son, Washington Hunt, born at Windham, New York, became a prominent attorney and lived at Lockport, New York. Washington Hunt was a member of Congress, 1843-1849; governor of New York, 1850-1852; declined the democratic nomination for Vice President in 1860.(d) P. 32. Rebecca6 Saxton (Alanson5 James4-3-2 George1) married Aaron Barney, Windham, New York. (d) P. 32. James6 Saxton (Alanson 5 James4-3-2 George1) married Orpha (Ford) Saxton, widow of his brother, Alanson 6 Saxton. (d) P. 32. Alanson6 Saxton (Alanson 5 James4-3-2 George1) married Orpha Ford. In 1820 he was appointed lieutenant in the 116th infantry, New York State Militia. (d) P. 32. Susan6 Saxton (Alanson 5 James4-3-2 George1). Her husband, Calvin Ford, was deacon of the Baptist Church at Akron, Erie County, New York, for 45 years. (d) Children (surname Ford), (m) Adonijah, Deidamia, Caroline, and Hilon, born June 26, 1824. P. 33, 1. 9. Frederick 6 Saxton (Ebenezer 5 James4-3-2 George1) was drowned when about 23 years of age and left no descendants. John Z.6 Saxton (James5-4-3-2 George1) removed from Fredonia, Chautauqua County, New York, in 1840 to Wiota, La Fayette County, Wisconsin, then known as Hamilton's Diggings. In 1842 he moved to Belvidere, Illinois, and in 1848 to Argyle, La Fayette County, Wisconsin. Here he built the first house in the village, was Chairman of the town, and in 1851 was one of the organizers of the Argyle Baptist Church. He married, first, Mary Akin, who died May 26, 1862, aged 68 years, 7 months, and 14 days. He married, secondly, in 1862, Mrs. Mary (Ferguson) La Follette, mother of the late Senator, Robert M. La Follette. John Z. Saxton had no children but he and his first wife adopted and reared several. (n) P. 49. Horace5 Saxton (Frederick4 James3-2 George1) was born July 13, 1779 (not July 17.)
