M. Patterson, in Thedford, on Saturday last, aged about 64 years. Mr. Douglass was the son of James Douglass of Bower Hill, and he is survived by his brothers, James Douglass of Nebraska, and John of Venetia, and one sister, Mrs. Thomas McMillan of Bower Hill. Interment was at Thedford. ============================================================ COMMENTS: This obit was found among our family papers, and was probably published in a local Washington County PA, newspaper. The name of the newspaper or a date was not included in the piece. Robert Douglass and his siblings, James, John and Jane (Mrs. Thomas McMillan) were the children of Sara Johnston and James Douglas who lived in the Bower Hill area of Peters Township, Washington County, PA. Birth dates of the Douglas children were: Robert 20-Apr-1852, James 01-Oct-1848, John 16-Feb-1843 and Jane 19-Aug-1840. James Douglass married Flora Sweeney who was born 22-Jan-1854 and died 01-Sep-1891. James and Flora's daughter Sarah, married R. M. Patterson the nephew mentioned in Robert Douglass' obit. The town of Venetia is in Washington County PA. Information on the Douglas family comes from a book on the family history of Robert Johnston, an early settler in Allegheny County PA, and the father of Sara Johnston.
