He was born in Dubuque County, Iowa, April 14, 1853, the son of William I. and Hester (Hillman) Anderson. His father, a surveyor and civil engineer, was born in Barren County, Kentucky, December 12, 1814, and died at Epworth, Iowa, December 25, 1882. His ancestors came to America in 1745, and settled in Virginia. His mother, Hester (Hillman) Anderson, was born at Bristol, England, May 2, 1817, and died at Epworth, March 4, 1861. Mr. Anderson attended Epworth Seminary, 1872-74, and since then has been a farmer near Ord. He is a member of the library board at Ord, the Modern Woodmen of America, the Nebraskana Society, the Nebraska State Historical Society, and the Red Cross. His chief aim in life is to be a worthy and progressive citizen of Nebraska. His hobby is science. On September 5, 1876, he was married to Elizabeth A. Hather at Farley, Iowa. Mrs. Anderson, whose ancestry was English, was born at Farley, September 21, 1857, and died at Kingsbury, California, April 7, 1888; their only son, Roy, died January 17, 1932. On July 26, 1893 Mr. Anderson was united in marriage with Sarah O. Snodgrass. Residence: Ord.
