He was born at Ottumwa, Iowa, February 3, 1900, the son of Loran Clare and Alma Idella (Johns) Anderson. His father, whose ancestry was Scotch-Irish and Dutch, was born at Bloomington, Illinois, June 2, 1871, and died at York, October 29, 1928. His mother was born of Scotch-Irish and Welsh parentage at Moulton, Iowa, February 16, 1874. Mr. Anderson attended rural schools in Iowa, and in 1921, was graduated from the high school at Cambridge, Nebraska, where he was active in basketball. He was graduated from the York Business College in 1922. He entered the business world in the employ of the Allied Union Store Company, and almost immediately was made manager of the local organization. He remained in that capacity until 1924, when he bought a half interest in the business. He is a member of the board of the York County Commercial Club, holds membership in the Rotary Club at York, and is affiliated with the York Church of Christ. He is a member of the Masons, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Young Men's Christian Association, and the Nebraskana Society. His favorite sport is fishing. On May 7, 1925, he was united in marriage with Hazel Irene Larkin, at Sidney, Iowa. Mrs. Anderson, who was a bookkeeper before her marriage, was born at Tacoma, Washington, July 5, 1906, of Irish and English parentage. They have a son, James, born May 27, 1926. Residence: York.
