Armand was born at Madison, Indiana, May 16, 1895, the son of Christopher J. and Lela Vesta (Bucknell) Armand. His father, who was born at Madison, January 27, 1871, is a farmer whose ancestry is French. His mother was born at Jefferson, Missouri, May 11, 1873. Mr. Armand, who is an automobile dealer, was the owner and operator of the first bus line in Nebraska, running busses from Beatrice to Lincoln and Lincoln to Grand Island. He is active in community affairs at York, Nebraska, and holds membership in the Parent Teachers Association, the Young Men’s Christian Association, the York Rotary Club, and the Nebraskana Society. He served as president of the York Commercial Club in 1920, and for six years has been a member of the board of this organization. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church, holds membership in the Knights of Pythias, and in 1929 was chairman of the local Red Cross. He married Alice Viola Headley at Beatrice, Nebraska, September 24, 1919; she was born at Beatrice, December 10, 1896, and was a teacher before her marriage. Two children were born to them: Jane, born October 9, 1924; and Wayne, born April 15, 1928. Mr. Armand is a Republican. His favorite sport is baseball and his hobby is mechanics. Mr. Armand has been very active in the good roads movement, being chairman of the York County Good Roads Association, and a member of the Nebraska Good Roads Association. He was instrumental in organizing the Nebraska Bus Operators’ Association which was responsible for bus legislation in the state. Residence: York.
