GOWDY FAMILY CEMETERY, Wakefield, Carroll County, New Hampshire This is a very small (about 25 feet x 30 feet) family cemetery on old family property. It is located off Pick Pocket Road, Wakefield, N.H., abutting the town line of Ossipee. It is not seen from Pick Pocket Road, and is accesed from a side dirt lane off Pick Pocket Road running along the town line , toward Effingham. The only stone left (9/10/97) is that for LIZZIE F., died Oct 19, 1886, AE 42 yrs. 7 mos. Another piece of what appears to be the same monument, says RINES at the base. There are two more gravestone bases in the cemetery, but no more data is available at the present time. If a future cemetery restoration project frees up further data, it will be forwarded. This would be Elizabeth Frances (GOWDY) RINES, born Aug 1842 at Wakefield, Carrol;l County, N.H., a daughter of Thomas and Sally (Eastman) GOWDY. The RINES name is often spelled RHINES; GOWDY was earlier spelled GOUDY. Other GOUDYs and GOWDYs are buried in the First Freewill Baptist Church cemetery a few hundred feet up the road.
