The descendants now living in town; being of the fifth and sixth generations, know but very little about their ancestry. From several sources the fact is well established that one James Bundy came to this town as early as 1762 or `3, and purchased a tract of land, of one hundred acres, lying in a long strip, running easterly from the old Jona. Jennison place. He had five sons; viz., Isaac, Nathan, James, Elias, and Asahel, and probably two daughters. 1st. Ruth, was married to John W. Divorse in 1781, and 2d. Sarah, was m. to Ithie1 Hoadly in 1764, by parson Leavitt. None of the family were born in town, and from whence they came is not known. James was born in 1695, and died April 12, 1772. He was one of the members of the first church, formed in 1767, and held a minor town office in 1764. What information is gathered in relation to those old families is gleaned from the records of deaths, baptisms, and marriages. As far as those records go they are presumed to be correct, but may not be full. Ch. I. Isaac, m 1st. Sarah Johnson, 1768; she d. 1787, aged 39; m. 2d. Amitia Fowler the same year. Ch. 1st.
