The history of the Denison family in Walpole is somewhat imperfect. It appears from a letter in possession of the author, written by one W. Cleft, of Mystic Bridge, Ct., that Daniel Denison, who married Mehitable Foster of Saybrook, Ct., removed from that place to this town about 1762, and a son of his, by the name of John, came with him. The father died here, aged 92. The Denison homestead was located on the opposite side of the road from the old Titus homestead, fifty rods north of the residence of Caleb Foster. Daniel Denison had a daughter named Diadamie who was baptized by Thomas Fessenden, June 27, 1773. There were three other men by the name of Denison. Whether they were the sons of Daniel or his grandsons, it is not easy to determine, probably the former. One, named Daniel jr., m. Chloe Watkins, in 1781, and another, Jedediah, m. Lydia Griswold, Feb. 26, 1782, and the third, Eber. m. Hannah Hall in 1788. There was another, supposed to be a daughter of Daniel, who m. Edward Watkins. The children of John were 1st, Lucy, b. June 27, 1784; moved to Ohio in 1824, and had one son and six daughters; 5th, Elijah, m. Sally Fay, Jan. 29, 1812, and went to Rochester, N.Y., and died there in 1850. He had three sons and one daughter; 6th. Ziba, baptized Apr. 27, 1787, and m. Parnell graves and moved to Herkimer Co., N.Y. He had four children. One, Luther Denison, m.
