Margaret Reed in county of Antrim, Ireland, and immigrated to Londonderry N.H. in the year 1788, with six children; Adam, Matthew, John, Ellen, Isabel and Barbara. Adam Dickey, of the second generation, married Jane Strahun and settled in Londonderry, N.H. and had thirteen children, four of whom settled it Acworth, namely John, James, Adam and Benjamin, and were the progenitors of the numerous Dickey families who have lived in that town. Matthew was the twelfth child and was born April 29, 1772; came to Walpole in 1794, and married Betsey Murch, Nov. 8, 1795, and took up wild land of the Atkinson allotment, on Derry Hill, where he spent a long life of industry economy and thrift. He had a family of eleven children, eight of whom survived to adult age. I. Sophia, b. Jan. 23, 1797, m. Calvin Fay, in 1815, and settled in Prattstown, N.Y. He died leaving two children, Calvin, and Lucas. She afterwards m. Henry Goodenow of Keene, and had three children: viz. Henry George, residence Chicago, Ill., and Horace, residence, Keene. She died June, 1872. II. Betsey, b. Jan. 20, 1800; m. Jacob B. Burnham and lived in Walpole, during life, died July 18, 1863. Ch. 1st, Nancy, m. David A. Russell. (See Russell.) 2d, Antoinette, m. Edward Wellington and removed to Saginaw, Mich. 3d. Laforest. III. John, b Aug. 3, 1801, and died very suddenly, while chopping underbrush on the farm now owned by J. M. Comstock, Dec. 22, 1722. IV. George M., b. Feb.3, 1808, went to Mentor, Ohio, and m. Rachel Corning in 1833. Ch. 1st, Warren. 2d, Viola. 3d, George 4th, Matthew. V. Cyrus, b. Oct. 14, 1804; d. Aug. 8, 1841, unm. VI. Clement S., b. Mar. 12, 1806; m. Betsey P., dau. of Thomas and Eunice (Alexander) Russell, Nov. 14, 1839. Ch. 1st, Josie H., b. July 26, 1842, d. Feb. 3, 1877. 2d. Albert C., b. Dec. 11, 1843, lives with his father in town, unm . VII. James, b. Oct. 31, 1807, removed to Ohio in 1831; m. Harriet Corning in 1834, d. at Walpole, Sept. 1855. Ch.
