KNOWLTON, LUTHER, came to Walpole from Framingham, Mass., in 1800, and purchased, of 
one James Knapp, the place on which his son Elias Ward now lives, where he spent his days. He 
married Prudence Dadman and had five children.
I. Paulina, b. Nov. 1,1801; d. Aug. 30, 1831, unm.
II. Eunice, b. Mar. 8, 1803, m. Mark Webster, Jan. 3, 1832; Ch. 1st, Eliza, m. Franklin O. 
Pierce, who died a few years after. 2d, Ezra, m. Victoria Willson, of Gilsum. 3d, Edwin E., m. 
Emily Upham of Westminster, Vt. 4th, Augusta, m. Ira Blake, of Surry. 5th, Henry. 6th, 
Franklin P., m. Augusta Ziminer of Norwich, Conn.
III. Luther D., b. Apr. 6, 1806; m. Mary Ann Derby, of Dublin, N. H., Feb. 14,1832, who was b. 
May 17, 1808, and died Dec. 1866. Ch. 1st, Ellen, m. Oliver Hall, (see Hall.) 2d, Clinton. 3d, 
Albertine, both of whom d. early.
IV. Charles, b. Mar. 8, 1809.
Elias Yard, b. Oct. 8th, 1811, m. Margaret Cannon, Sep. 3d, 1844. Ch. 1st, Francis E., d. young. 2d, 
Mary J.; 3d, Lucy E.; 4th, Chauncy E., m. Susan G., daughter of Andrew Roy, Apr. 3, 1878; 5th, 
Henry W. Elias Ward’s wife died and he married, the second time, June 28, 1859, Emeline W. Foster, 
by whom he has two ch., 1st, Edward A., 2d, Warren D. (For ages see Ap.)
