The Redington brothers, Thomas and Isaac, came to Walpole, prior to the year 1890, from Lunenburg, Mass. Whether their father and mother, Benjamin and Ruth, ever lived in town is uncertain; but in a record of deaths, in the town, made by the late Lewis Campbell Esq., of Keene, a former resident of Walpole, is recorded the following; Benjamin Redington died Aug. 23, 1811; aged 82; Ruth, his wife, d. Mar. 14, 1798, aged 61. Benjamin, their son, d. Feb. 25, 1790, aged 27. Sukey, a dau. of the above, d. Sep. 7, 1799. Thomas, one of the sons that lived in Walpole d. June 26, 1824, aged 58, and his wife, Mary, d. Dec. 21, 1825, aged 52. Among the marriages solemnized by Pliny Dickinson is found recorded; "John Brooks, and Nancy Redington, Mar. 8, 1807." It is inferred that the Nancy above named was a daughter of Benj. and Ruth, as there was no other family by the name of Redington living in town at that time. THOMAS AND ISAAC REDINGTON were merchants in town some twenty five years, doing business principally in the old brick store, some times in company, sometimes separately and at other times in company with Josiah Bellows 3d. Both were married and had families of children. Isaac built the house where Edwin Hosmer now resides, and lived therein; and his brother Thomas lived in the Ruggles house. Both families were highly respectable. Isaac represented the town in the legislature in the years 1813-14 and 16, besides holding town offices of responsibility.
