He settled on land in the east part of the town, and remained on his first purchase during life. He was a quiet, good citizen, and was content to reap the fruits of honest labor. He married Sarah Howard, by whom he had children as follow: I. William Howard, b. Nov. 14, 1809; m. Elsie, dau. of Amasa Carpenter, and had fourteen children, three only of whom are now living, viz. 1st, George, a music teacher, now a resident of Westmoreland, N.H. 2d, Frank, resides in Massachusetts. 3d, Ella A., m. Edward A. Watkins, of this town. William Howard, d. May 19,1877. II. Frederick Willard, b. Dec. 28, 1813; m. first, Mary Ann Dinsmore, of Alstead, N.H. by whom he had children She d. and he m. again, wife’s name unknown, residence California. III. Sarah Ann, b. Nov. 19, 1815, m. George Coffin, residence, Massachusetts. IV. Harriet Eliza, b. Aug. 18, 1817. V. Mary Louisa, b. Apr. 19, 1819. VI. Martha Maria, b. Apr. 3, 1821. VII. Amos, age unknown; he married and went to the state of New York, and died there.
