He moved from Franklin, to Alstead in 1799, and from there to Walpole in 1801, having purchased the place now owned by Andrew Roy. Here he remained till 1812, when he purchased the place now owned by Alonzo Jennings, known as the Thompson place, where he lived till he died. By his first wife he had the following children. I. David Clark, b. Nov. 1, 1799, who m. first, Mary P., dau. of Thomas Moore, one of the first settlers on Derry Hill. 2d, Lurancy, dau. of Jonathan Jennison jr. His children by his first wife were, 1st, Warren, b. Dec. 2, 1835; m. Mrs. Wealthy M., widow of Ira Graves, and has had 2 ch. (See Ap.) 2d, Eliza Jane, b. Sep. 2, 1837. 3d, Mary Emma, b. May 10, 1842; m. Myron D. Clark and resides in Alstead. 4th, Frances Adeline, b. Jan. 6, 1847; m. John L. Hubbard and lives in town. Mr. Thompson is now in his eightieth year and has always lived in town. As a townsman, he has always been honored for his uprightness and probity of character. For several years he held the office of Justice of the Peace and was chosen representative, two years, to the General Court, besides being entrusted with the concerns of the town as one of the selectmen. His occupation has been principally farming, although in his younger days his winters were spent in school teaching. II. Adeline, b. Mar. 8, 1803; not married. III. Hiram, b. June 1, 1806. IV. Eliza, b. Jan. 1809; d. unm. V. Samuel, b. July 30, 1814; m. Eliza M. Chandler, of Westminster, Vt. He went West and now lives in Appleton, Wis. and has one son. By his reputed character, he has not dishonored his native town. VI. Lewis, b. Dec. 21, 1818; lived and died in town, within a short period, unm. David Thompson died April 15, 1857.
