He married Sally, the sister of Dr. Stephen Johnson, and had three sons and one daughter, who came with their parents. He was born in 1764, and died April 17, 1850. His wife was born in 1771, and died Feb. 8, 1868, being 97 years old. He was a butcher, it is said, and lived at one time in the Walton Mead house, and owned the rabid dog that bit David, the son of John Livingston, mentioned heretofore, in 1815. Stephen, the oldest of his children, was born Feb. 22, 1792, and died Aug. 19, 1877. He married Maria, dau. of Dr. Stephen and Percy (Webber) Johnson, Oct. 18, 1818, who was born April 13, 1795, and died March 31, 1872. Stephen Tiffany was a soldier in the war of 1812, and went to Portsmouth, N.H., in the company that went from Walpole with Col. Josiah Bellows; he was also captain, at one time, of the rifle company organized here. He lived to be eighty-five years of age, possessing a robust constitution, although he never in his lifetime ate but a very small quantity of meat. His course of life was smooth and even, and he died without an enemy. Ch. 1st, Harriet M., b. Nov. 26, 1821; m. Ephraim A. Watkins, March, 1841, and has two children living. 2d, Sarah Ann, b. Jan. 22, 1826; m. Frederick Watkins, September, 1845, and has two daughters. 3d, Stephen Johnson, b. May 16, 1830; m. first, Mary S., dau. of Levi and Susannah (Foster) Hall, who d. May 29, 1864; m. second, Emily Buffum, of Keene, N.H. (See Ap.) 4th, Percy I., b. June 10, 1834; m. William Hall, Jan. 27, 1852; d. Jan 24, 1866.
