Feb 15, at 6:30 p.m. after a few days illness. Mr. Heath was the son of Mr. & Mrs. James K. Heath and was born in Shelburne, Feb. 22, 1840. His family moved to Gorham when he was 3 years old so that practically his whole life has been spent in this town. Fifty eight years ago he bought land in what is now known as the Heath District, but was then a wilderness, and with his own hands hewed the timbers for the frame & built the house which has been his home up to his death, and cleared the farm. On Feb. 15, 1870 he was united in marriage to Louise Julia Haley of Fryburg, ME who died last June. His death occurred on the 56th anniversary of their marriage. Fifteen children were born to them, seven of whom are living, Chester, Victor, Wilmot, L. Delmont, Nettie (Mrs. Tom Berry) Susie ( Mrs. Moses Berry), all of Gorham and Harry of Berlin. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr Heath was an honest hardworking man, a kind husband and father & a good citizen. His death removes one more of the old residents who helped to lay the foundation of our town. Funeral services were held at the old homestead at 2 p.m. today. The Rev. WM. Sinclair BD officiated. The remains were placed in the receiving tomb to await burial in the spring. Paper July 1925 Mrs. James Heath Mrs. Louise (Haley) Heath, one of the oldest residents of Gorham passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Tom Berry, Heath District, early Sunday morning. She had been in poor health for several years, and had been confined to her bed for months. Mrs. Heath was born in Fryeburg, ME, May 31, 1855 and 52 yrs. ago was uinited in marriage to James M. Heath. Practically their whole married life was spent in the Heath District and 2 years ago, with their family, & friends around them they celebrated their golden wedding. Of the 14 children born to them seven are living. Chester J. Heath, Penn., Victor G., Wilmot G. & Delmont L. of Gorham & Harry D. of Berlin - Netttie (Mrs. Tom Berry), and Susan (Mrs. Moses Berry), of Gorham. She was a good wife, mother and neighbor and she will be greatly missed by her husband, family, and friends. Besides her immediate family she is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter on Tues. afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A H Graham, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating. Four of her sons acted as pall bearers and she was laid to rest in the family lot in the Evans Cemetery. Gorham Paper Delmont L. Heath Gorham, N. H. - Delmont Leon Heath, 81, of 84 Lancaster Road, oldest citizen of this town, died Friday afternoon at the St. Louis Hospital, Berlin. He had been a patient there for the past two days. Born here May 24, 1877, he was the son of James and Louise Haley Heath. He was educated in Gorham Schools and for several years was employed by the Grand Trunk Railway in Gorham, N.H. and Portland, Maine. For many years, Mr. Heath operated a grocery store on Lancaster Road. He was a past noble grand and member more than 50 years of Glen Lodge, IOOF; and a former member of Madison Lodge, K of P. He was married to Bessie Calcutt Heath wo died March 22, 1942. On Feb. 16, 1948, he married Anna Hughes of New York, who survives him. Besides his widow he is survived by two sons, Hollis of Berlin and Robert of Willimantic, Conn.; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Williams and Mrs. Henry Hartford, both of Lancaster, N.H.; Mrs. Gladys Long of Southampton, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Susie Berry of Worcester, Mass.; a brother Harry Heath of Hartford, Conn.; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The Morning Union Springfield, Ma Newspaper Gladys Hansberry Ludlow-Gladys (Heath) Long Hansberry, 76, of 39 Victor St., a retired sales clerk at J.J. Newbury's department store, Westfield, died yesterday in Noble Hospital, Westfield. She retired in 1967. Born in Sourthern Pines, N.C., she lived in Gorham, N.H., for 25 years and then in Westfield for more than 40 years befoe moving to Ludlow earlier this year. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1928. She was a life member and former star recorder of the Women of the Moose Lodge in Westfield. Her first husband Ernest Long, died in 1970, and her second husband, Thomas Hansberry, died in 1976. She leaves two sons, Gary E. Long and Roger D. Long, both of Westfield; three daughters, Brenda G. Chartier with whom she lived, and Janice E. Morse and Sally M. Renaudette, both of Westfield; a sister Marion L. Hartford of Littleton, N.H.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow morning at Robert E. Cusack Funeral Home, Westfield, with burial in Holy Family Cemetery, Gorham, N.H.
