Pension: Joseph Colcord, 1819 :Enfield, Grafton County, New Hampshire This abstract is from a book called "N. H. Revolutionary Pension Papers", abstracted & prepared by Mrs. Amos G. Draper 1917-1922 It is available at the New Hampshire Historical Society. Joseph Colcord Revolutionary War pension application S. F. 45693 Continental & N. H. Service May 13, 1819, Joseph Colcord, of Enfield, N. H., aged 73 years, deposed: That he enlisted Jan. 1, 1776, as Ensign, and served under Col. Enoch Poor in the N. H. line, until June, 1777, when he left the army on account of ill health; that April 2, 1777, he was commissioned 1st Lieutenant, under Col. Nathan Hale and Captain James Norris. He forwarded his commission, signed by John Hancock, to the Department. The commission as 1st Lt. was delivered June 5, 1874, to Col. Joseph C. Audenreid, U. S. A., Aid de Camp to General Sherman, and a copy filed in the case. This was done upon the written request of Col. Audenreid, who stated that "the family to which the said Joseph Colcord belonged is the same as that of my wife", and requested both commissions. The commission as Ensign, dated Jan. 1, 1776, signed John Hancock, President , appointing ______ Colcord, Gentleman, Ensign of Captain Winborn Adam's company, 3rd Regiment of Foot, commanded by Col. Enoch Poor, is on file in the Department. Claim allowed June 30, 1819. May 30, 1820, Joseph Colcord, of Enfield, N. H., aged 75 years, testified that he is by occupation a farmer; has a wife, aged 67 years (no name listed), No children live with them, but he and his wife make their home with a son-in-law. Judge Edward Evans alludes to the son-in-law as John Heath.
