The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** **Nathan Scarritt (1757-1828) served from CT, pensioned while living in NH From his Rev War pension file #S45144: he was awarded a pension for his service of 2 years and 10 months as a private, starting 4 Dec 1819 at $8 per month. According to his signed affidavit dated 4 Dec 1819, when he was a resident of Lyman, Grafton Co, NH, he enlisted in the army of the revolution in Feb 1778 for the term of 3 years, into a company commanded by Capt Daniel Pembleton and Col. J. Baldwin's regiment in the CT line. He served until 31 Dec 1780 when he procured a substitute by the name of Jeremiah Scarritt to serve the residue of the term for which I enlisted & was honorably discharged from said service. That I am in the 63rd year of my age, that I am in reduced circumstances & stand in need of assistance from my country for my support. Another affidavit in this file is signed by Jeremiah Scarritt and dated in Bristol, CT on Nov 26, 1819. He calls himself of Wolcott and of lawfull age. He says that Nathan Scarritt then of Waterbury but now of Lyman, Grafton Co, NH enlisted at Waterbury sometime in the month of Feb or March 1778 as a private into Capt Daniel Pembleton's company for the term of three years, which company was annexed to Col. J Baldwin's Regiment of continental forces to serve against the common enemy. That the said Nathan Scarritt served in said company and regiment for the term of two years or more when he obtained a furlough from the then commanding officer of the regiment and returned home and while at home obtained a substitute who was accepted by the Capt of said company who was then at his residence in Watertown, CT, and the said Nathan was honorably discharged from the service of the United States.
