H. in the Rebellion' by H. L. Robinson, published 1893 SAMUEL P. JAMES was a brother of the above (Jonathan James), a native of Pittsfield, and always resided here until he enlisted in Company E, Seventh New Hampshire volunteers, and was mustered into service November 7, 1861. He reenlisted February 28, 1864, and served until the close of the war. He made for himself a good record as a soldier. He died soon after his discharge in 1865.
