H. in the Rebellion' by H. L. Robinson, published 1893 Page 165 C. B. WALLACE came to this town a stranger, worked in the cotton factory, and married, about 1856, Mrs. Peace Crosby, a sister to Ezra C. Willard. He enlisted in Company E, Seventh New "Hampshire volunteers, and was mustered into service November 7, 1861. Promoted to be sergeant November 28, 1863, he reenlisted February 2, 1864, and served until the close of the war. Mr. Wallace was in every way a good soldier. His wife died while he was in the service, and he never returned to this town to live; his whereabouts are unknown.
